Katerina Digoni, Erased scenes (from an untouched landscape)

The works included in the section Erased scenes (from an untouched landscape) are inspired by painting. Specifically, it is a combination of manual and digital image processing, resulting in constructed rather than photographed landscape collages. It is an attempt to approach the natural landscape, in a theoretical archetypal form. In the majority of these landscapes, the eye is turned away from human interventions. Whenever there are elements of human intervention in the images, they act as a trace. One of the main features of this work, and a topic that occupied me, is the manual construction process, the direct intervention in the photographs and their materiality.
