Collaboration with the Hellenic Union for Human Rights and the Gender Alliance in the context of the European Program “Living in a New Gender Era: Deconstructing Gender Stereotypes – Redefining and Developing New Aspects of Masculinities and Femininities” https://g-all.gr/epistimoniko-6 , which held a round of 4 expert educational-experiential workshops under the general title: “Co-Creating a New Gender Era” for department staff members and students, in our campus 1 premises https://www.facebook.com/GenderAllianceInitiative/posts/pfbid02uemRTCGBNy1T9ece33nBYJdDLcpse2Api3sZpEdnWXiVkxGxYW7GipHCrAFs7FH5 . More about the first here , the second one here, the third one here , and the fourth one here. The aim of the workshops was twofold. On the one hand, it aimed at the training of the participating students in the detection of gender stereotypes and sexism in the Greek media and social networking. On the other hand, their inspiration for the creation of original, demonstrative works (visual arts, photography, video-making, etc.), which critically evaluated and deconstructed gender stereotypes. These projects were the main content of an online information/awareness campaign in mass media entitled #stereo_hunters. The campaign https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCJEqSfp-zA took place from November 2023 to January 2024 and aimed to inspire and invite other social media users to identify forms of sexism and discrimination in the Greek media and to propose alternative ways of deconstructing them through the audiovisual arts.
In this workshop, you’re encouraged to explore your thoughts and feelings about gender violence as deeply as you feel comfortable. You don’t have to share anything personal or go into areas that feel too overwhelming. The goal is to express yourself in a way that feels right for you, whether that’s through images, words, or a combination of both. It’s important that you feel safe and supported throughout this process, so take it at your own pace and only share what you’re comfortable with. Your personal boundaries and experiences are always respected.
At the end of the workshop, we will create a communal collage, combining everyone’s work, which will be displayed in the classroom as part of a class exhibition. This is a chance to reflect together and see how all of our individual expressions come together to represent this important topic
