26-31 May – 2024 Blended Intensive Programme Erasmus+

Blended Intensive Programme Erasmus+ Workshop Rewriting Spaces of Exclusion: Art as an Activist Tool for Reframing Spaces of Domination, in Palermo, Sicily. The Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts participated with 2 responsible professors (Evangelia Katsaiti, Lecturer, and Dr. Iō Pashou, Assistant Professor) and 15 students. Collaboration between Academia di Belle Arti di Palermo, Beykoz University, Istanbul Turkey, Instituto Gramsci di Palermo, University of West Attica.

The following stages of the program were successfully carried out, with excellent participation and response from all of our students in an exceptional atmosphere of collaboration, solidarity, and responsibility:

  • Virtual collaborative projects and assignments that encouraged interdisciplinarity and creativity among participants.
  • Intensive face-to-face workshops and sessions at the Academia di Belle Arti di Palermo and Instituto Gramsci di Palermo, as well as cultural excursions in the Favara area.
  • Guidance and feedback sessions to support the learning goals and professional development of participants.
  • Online forums and communication channels through the Instagram account (@palermoathensinstanbul) for continuous feedback and collaboration.
  • Production of photographic diaries and photobooks, with ongoing presentations of student works.
  • Cultural exchange helped participants gain a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity and a global perspective.

The benefits for the students included improved teaching practices and enriched learning environments, providing a more engaging and effective educational experience. The program offered a transformative learning experience, combining the best elements of online and face-to-face education while promoting the goals of internationalization and modernization within the Erasmus community.
