Evangelos Zoidis (b. 1968, Athens) teaches at the Department of Photography & Audiovisual Arts of the University of Western Attica, specializing in art history (contemporary art, Expressionism, Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque), visual theory (semiology, visual communication, advertising photography) and critical theory (phenomenology, structuralism/poststructuralism). Zoidis studied psychology in Athens with postgraduate studies in social psychology and a PhD, in 2001, in political science from the London School of Economics & Political Science. In 2016, he completed his second PhD in art history at the University of Zurich, on contemporary art and Mannerism as sites of alterity in the art historical literature. Zoidis has authored several books and articles and is a member of the Association of Swiss Art Historians VKKS.
